We umm’d & ah’d as to whether we would travel through Holbrook to our next stop-over at Tocumwal, but decided to stay for just 1 night as friends had raved about the local pub, so we thought “why not”
Accommodation
We would normally do a freecamp behind the Riverina Pub , but the Council had closed them down due to the mess left behind by campers and far too many campers parking outside of the pub etc (bugger!).
So following our friend’s recommendation we booked into the Holbrook Motor Village for one night (maplink). This is a fairly old caravan park, with clean amenities etc BUT we parked up against this high wall (at the front) only to discover during the night that the other side of the wall was a truck “change-over” location with semi trailer air brakes going all night (bugger again!)
We took a couple of photos of our site (next to “the wall”) and also added some from the web...
Trying out “the other pub” for dinner
We’d heard that the Holbrook Hotel was renowned for their food, so off we trotted to check it out. WOW!! Their food is fantastic and we sure were not disappointed. I had Spare Ribs and Merrisa had a Roasted Salmon. Their menu constantly changes, so we’ll put Holbrook on our list of places to stop in the future (if we’re travelling the Hume).
This is a comment from their website…
“Our dishes showcase the finest, locally grown ingredients, carefully selected to embody the essence of the Riverina-Murray region and crafted into culinary wonders. From farm-fresh produce to ethically raised meats, each bite tells a story of sustainability, community, and uncompromising taste.“
Here’s some images I took from the web...
